A man already facing Arson charges in Newton County has been arrested again on additional charges.

Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler says in a release that his office was contacted on July 10th that a family who was vacationing in the area had been threatened. The family was renting a short-term rental cabin and as they were returning, they were stopped by a man later identified as Nathan Stuart of Harrison who told them they needed to pack their belongings and leave the cabin. He then made threats toward the family and spoke of burning the structure. It was also discovered he had damaged property at the cabin.

Stuart had been linked to several incidents since bonding out on the charges of setting two houses on fire on July 4th. The incidents included the vandalizations of vehicles in both Newton County and Harrison.

Stuart was later located and was in possession of several cans of Charcoal Lighter Fluid.

Stuart is now facing a Felony Charge of Stalking and several other Misdemeanor Charges on top of the earlier charges of Arson. He is in the Newton County Jail on a $500,000 Bond.
