A man is facing charges after being accused of stealing money from a family member.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed by the Boone County Sheriff's Office, the grandfather of 20-year-old Colton Watters of Harrison is accused for stealing checks from his grandfather then writing $2,700 worth of checks to himself. The checks were written over a time span of November and December of last year.
According to the affidavit, the grandfather made a report to the Boone County Sheriff's Office in January of this year and eventually confronted his grandson about the theft through text message at which time Colton Watters admitted to taking the money.
Watters is facing five felony charges of Forgery and another charge of Theft. Watters is set for an appearance in Boone County Circuit Court on June 24.
