A Boone County man whose history of theft from Walmart stores has earned him a nationwide ban is now accused of stealing from another Walmart.
According to online court documents, 54-year-old John Wesley Loniak of Harrison was accused of stealing from the Walmart store in Batesville in May. A warrant was issued for his arrest but he was not taken into custody until located in Platte County, Missouri on July 30.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Batesville Police Department, surveillance footage showed Loniak gathering various calculators then hiding them in a microwave box then returned the next day to purchase the microwave. Loniak had signed a document banning him from Walmart properties after being suspected of similar thefts.
Loniak has several previous arrests for burglary including in Boone County. Bond in this case is set at $25,000.
