A Harrison High School student has been arrested for making threats to two female students in the school via social media. Police were notified by a school district employee of threats made by 18-year-old Ashton Alan Dewitt.
The probable cause affidavit indicates a female student told the employee she is afraid of Dewitt after receiving threatening messages he sent her on Instagram.
Dewitt also sent similar messages to another female student at the school.
During an interview with police, Dewitt admitted to sending the messages. He said he was at his uncle’s house, stole some of his medication and snorted it to get high, and then sent the messages.
Dewitt is charged with a felony count of terroristic threatening and a misdemeanor count of harassing communications. He is being held in the Boone County Jail.
