Freaky Friday Coming to the Lyric Theater

Freaky Friday the play will run at the Lyric Theater from July 1 through 3 and then again from July 8 through 10.

Assistant Director Shelby Waters and cast members Bri Coleman and Bannon Jones discussed the play on KHOZ's "Around The Table" on Monday. Waters said this play is based on the third version of the movie. She said a few facets of the story people are familiar with from the version starring Lindsay Lohan aren't present. This play is based on Mary Rogers' book.

Waters said the runtime is about two and a half hours "give or take." She said they're trying to cut down on time rehearsal-wise. Also, the play is "fairly family-friendly." "No language," Waters said. However, there might be suggestive themes dealing with "teenage hormones."

Waters said this version still includes a mother and daughter switching. "In this case you've got a magic hourglass that breaks," she said. She also said it is during the mom's wedding weekend. The assistant director said she grew up with the Lohan version. Jones said he has seen all of the versions.

Coleman plays Ellie Blake and Katherine Blake. Jones plays Adam.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or on https://thelyricharrison.org; tickets are $3 cheaper online.

The full interview with the cast members and assistant director is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
