The former executive director of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in Harrison was sentenced Tuesday to ten years probation for theft an forgery.
According to court documents, 35-year-old Katie Rylee plead guilty to charges of theft and forgery where investigators stated she stole more than $40,000 of CASA funding between April 2017 and July 2019. Investigators state the funds Rylee stole were for personal purchase including shopping expenses, restaurants and hotels. Rylee later gave $7,000 back to the organization.
Rylee was ordered to pay restitution of $36,634.10 and agreed to forfeit any cash bond paid to be used a payment towards restitution.
CASA is an organization which supports and promotes court-appointed advocated for abused or neglected children. They receive funding from fines and penalties the courts order offenders to pay.
