Jim Guy Tucker, who succeeded Bill Clinton as Governor of Arkansas in 1992 and was later forced from office when he was tied to the Whitewater Scandal, has died at the age of 81.
Tucker was Lt. Governor when Clinton won the Presidential Election in 1992. He finished Clinton’s remaining two years as Governor then won election himself in 1994, but his time in office was cut short when Tucker was pulled into the Whitewater Investigation when Prosecutor Kenneth Starr got the go ahead to expand the probe and discovered Tucker had misused money appropriated for one project and moved it to another. Tucker resigned from office in 1996 with Mikc Huckabee taking over.
Huckabee’s Daughter and current Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders along with Clinton praised Tucker’s public service after news of his passing was released.
