An area school district is having to shutdown its food pantry.
Over the last few years, the Flippin School District Food Pantry has relied on Arkansas’ Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program to fund its drive-through operation. The funding is no longer available, and as a result, the district is forced to close the pantry.
Flippin Superintendent Kelvin Hudson tells KTLO he has not been given a reason for the cut to the funding that has allowed the school district to serve on the average 60 families per week.
Hudson says community members have reached out about how to help keep the pantry alive while he adds that the district does have other ways of getting food to the students.
An interview with Kelvin Hudson can be found on the KTLO Website.
