One of the big annual events in the region also serves as a last chance opportunity for hunters to secure an Elk Hunting Permit.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission announces the drawing for the final five Elk Permits to be issued for the fall hunting season will be Saturday as part of the Buffalo River Elk Festival in Jasper.
The festival runs both today and Saturday with people wishing to register for the on-site drawing can do so at the Jasper Visitor Center from 1 to 4 on today and from 9 to 4 on Saturday. The drawing will take place at 5:00.
The festival is held annually in downtown Jasper with several vendor booths, family activities, and live music scheduled throughout the event. Special events include Kid’s Fishing Derby and the Arkansas State Championship Elk Calling competition.
More details on this year's event can be found on the Buffalo River Elk Festival Website.
