Marion County deputies are investigating the drowning death of a female at a boat launch area on Bull Shoals Lake. The name of the victim has not been released yet by authorities as they work to make a positive identification.
According to Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander, deputies were called to the Welcome Ridge boat launch in the northern part of the county around 1:00 Thursday afternoon after area residents found the body of the unidentified female floating just offshore in the lake.
During the investigation, a vehicle was found at the boat launch area that is linked to the female.
Thursday evening, investigators took a missing persons report for a white female who had traveled to the Welcome Ridge area from out of state but had not been heard from since Wednesday.
The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
