With data taken before the recent rounds of showers, the U.S. Drought Monitor Weekly Report indicates the drought level for much of the Lakes Region on the rise.
The current map, posted on Thursday, indicates that areas around Branson to the west in Missouri and all of northern Arkansas are at a Moderate Drought Level, one level up from last week while areas east of Branson in Missouri are Abnormally Dry.
Many area officials have urged people to be cautions if burning outside due to the dry conditions.
After another round of rain today into Saturday morning, an extended dry and hot period is in the forecast for the Lakes Region.
