Drought Area Increases

The recent dry period has increased the areas of drought around the Lakes Region.

The latest map from the U.S. Drought Monitor indicates that the entire Lakes Region is at least Abnormally Dry while most of the Barry and Stone Counties in Missouri and northeastern Carroll County in Arkansas are at a Moderate Drought Level. Many rivers and streams continue to run at low levels while crops and plants are now becoming stressed due to the lack of rainfall.

In a recent interview on KRZK’s “Ozarks Now” Program, National Weather Service Meteorologist Ben Price said that trends for next week indicate both cooler temperatures and an increase chance of rain.
