Decommissioned Searcy County Election Commissioners to Appear Before State Election Board

Three Election Commissioners from Searcy County will state their case before the Arkansas State Board of Elections

Back in June, the Arkansas State Board of Election Commissioners decertify three members of the county election commission according to reports from the Arkansas Advocate and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette after the state discovered that the board had leased equipment to video stream the count from a non-profit organization for $100. The state board claimed that the proper paperwork did not exist for the purchase and that the low cost lead to concerns that the equipment may have been donated by the organization, a violation of state law.

In the original report, the members of the Searcy County Board indicated that though they did have the right to a hearing to appeal the decision, they probably would not take that option. However, several media reports including one in the Harrison Daily Times indicated that three election judges, identified in the Daily Times report as L.C. Ratchford, Laura Gross, and Kenneth Weekley, would appeal the ruling with the hearing schedule for Wednesday at 9:00 am in Little Rock.
