An annual event will this year coincide with the anniversary of 9-11.
The Harrison Kiwanis, Lions, and Rotary Clubs co-sponsor the third annual First Responders Lunch which will take place at Harrison City Hall on Friday between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.
Kyle Mallett of Kiwanis, Wilson Marseilles of the Noon Lions Club, and Mike Wood of Rotary each appeared on Harrison's Original 949 KHOZ's "Around the Table" program to talk about the event. Marseilles said the Lions initially thought of the concept two years ago with the other two clubs quickly joining the effort. Wood said Rotary's primary role is delivering the meals to those first responders that are unable to attend due to being on duty.
Marseilles adds that the Harrison Fire Department will conduct their annual 9-11 Flag Ceremony at 9:00 am followed by the luncheon itself at 11:00 am. Mayor Jerry Jackson is expected to present remarks during the event.
