Camp Jack to Host Veteran Health Fair

Health Fair promises veterans assistance, blood drive, door prizes, food, and more!

The Jack Williams Veteran’s Resource Center in Harrison has a health fair for veterans and their families coming up on January 29th at their facility at 411 S. Pine Street.

The event will be from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM and will feature door prizes, sign ups for support groups, health assessments, VA open Enrollment, massage therapy, community resources, flu clinic, and a blood drive.

Camp Jack volunteer, Callie Mondy, recently joined KHOZ’s “Around the Table” program to promote this and other upcoming events. She said that Camp Jack has partnered with the VA Healthcare of the Ozarks to get event off the ground.

“Our main focus is to get as many veterans in our community enrolled in our community care here at Harrison,” Mondy said.

The American Red Cross will be there hosting a blood drive. Anyone in the community is encouraged to come give blood as supplies remain critically low across the nation. You can book an appointment time to donate by visiting the Camp Jack Facebook page and going to their event section.

Door prizes at the event include things from Townhouse Café along with prizes from every other vendor that’s going to be at the fair. Extra door prizes are available to those who give blood.

Mondy said, “This is open to the entire community. Obviously, we’re focusing on veterans and their healthcare, but come on down to the blood drive.”

She also added that this health fair is what Camp Jack is all about.

“We’re a resource. We’re immediate help,” she said. What Camp Jack would really like to do is get all veterans in the area enrolled in the Harrison center. As their numbers grow Mondy says the resources at Camp Jack will increase. Things like mental health counseling and a pharmacy are all things that could come in the future.

Pappy’s Burgers food truck will also be present to provide meals and will donate proceeds from the day to Camp Jack.

Mondy also talked about the recent Martin Luther King Jr. celebration hosted at there and more events to come this spring. Major renovations are planned for their building pending action by the Harrison City Council to provide funding. Mondy addresses all these things in the full interview available below.
