Bull Shoals Like Advisory for Diamond City Area Lifted

State health officials have lifted an primary body contact advisory for Bull Shoals Lake.

According to the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH), the primary body contact advisory near the Sugarloaf Wastewater Treatment Plant on Bull Shoals Lake has been lifted. Officials state samples collected by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers were analyzed by the ADH Public Health Laboratory and indicated very low E. coli levels, well below the swim beach closure levels for primary body contact.

The initial advisory was issued on May 3 after a fire on April 26 at the Sugarloaf Wastewater Treatment Plant in Diamond City caused extensive damage.

Swimming is now considered safe in the area.
