Buffalo River License Plates Now Available

Buffalo River Specialty License Plates are now available at revenue offices across Arkansas, according to a Searcy County Chamber of Commerce Social Media Post.

The first three plates went to plate originator Darryl Treat, license plate artist Jamie Craddock of the Buffalo River Art Gallery in Gilbert and Buffalo River Historic Jail and Museum Director Bob King.

The license plates depict a scene at Grinder’s Ferry near St. Joe.

In October, the chamber made a plea for signatures for the new specialty license plate.

Signatures were needed in order for the state to begin producing the plates and make them available for purchasing.

The chamber said at that time each license plate sold will generate $25 for the Buffalo River Community Development Corporation, a Searcy County 501(c)(3).

Money from the license plate will be used for economic development in Searcy County, including tourism.

The Searcy County Chamber expressed its appreciation to Sen. Missy Irvin of Mountain View and Rep. John Payton of Wilburn for their efforts shepherding legislation through the General Assembly for the project.
