Branson’s Largest Oktoberfest Returns!

(Branson, MO – October 7, 2024) — Dust off your lederhosen and grab a bratwurst—Faith Lutheran Church’s Annual Oktoberfest returns on Sunday, October 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Life Center, 221 Malone Street, just off the Cox Hospital roundabout.

Voted Best of Branson Special Event two years running, this family-friendly festival brings a true taste of Germany to the Ozarks. What began decades ago as a small “German Sausage Dinner” has grown into Branson’s largest Oktoberfest, drawing hundreds each year for food, fun, and fellowship.

“Oktoberfest is a great place for families to connect and have fun,” said Pastor Joel Kruger of Faith Lutheran Church. “From the live polka music to the children’s donut eating contest, it’s a lively way for our community to come together.”

Festival-goers can enjoy live music and dancing with the Five Stein Brass players, a variety of games and contests (including the popular stein-holding competition and cake walks), and plenty of activities for kids in the Kinderpark, featuring outdoor games and a mini train-ride. Tractor-drawn wagon rides will also make their return this year, weather permitting.

The event’s Gift Basket Raffle has grown tremendously, with dozens of donated items up for bid. Drawings will take place at 3:00 p.m. (winners need not be present). Also this year we have two special prizes, a silent auction item of a one hour flight for three people over the Branson area that you can bid on at the Oktoberfest, or for an additional chance you can purchase a raffle ticket for a second flight by calling 417-334-2469. Raffle ticket winner will be announced at 1pm, and the silent auction winner will be announced at 3pm.

“Oktoberfest celebrates culture, preserves customs, and promotes a whole lot of family fun,” said Gina Brandt, festival organizer. “With so much German heritage in our congregation, we take pride in keeping the experience authentic—from the décor to the food.”

And speaking of food—Oktoberfest wouldn’t be complete without authentic German cuisine! Guests can enjoy the famous bratwurst, homemade potato salad (a cherished third-generation Schaefer family recipe), and sauerkraut made from a 500-year-old Brandt family recipe originating in northern Germany. Meals are available for dine-in or carry-out, along with à la carte items and desserts.

The festival also features a walk-through German Marketplace, offering Bavarian pretzels, Lebkuchenherzen (decorated gingerbread hearts), and homemade baked goods from the “Lutheran Ladies and Gents.”

Visitors are invited to tour Faith Lutheran’s newly remodeled Sanctuary and brand-new school classrooms during the event. “We’re proud to share our growing school with the community,” said Joey Bluege, Associate Pastor and School Administrator.
