Boone, Newton, Carroll, Madison and other NWA counties under high wildfire risk.
The Arkansas Forestry Service has listed Boone County along with 11 other counties including Newton and Carroll as a high risk for wildfires.
This is not the first time in recent history that Boone County has been at this level of risk as earlier in December the same designation was put on all Northwest Arkansas counties. Boone County’s neighbor immediately to the east along with the rest of the Northeastern part of the state are listed as low risk for fires.
This week promises rain throughout much of the area with the best chances currently predicted for Wednesday night which should bring that risk factor down. Until then residents are cautioned about outdoor fires as they could easily spread with little warning.
You can check the current wildfire risk and burn ban list on the Arkansas Forestry Website.
