Boone Country Sheriff Tim Roberson spoke with KHOZ’s Around the Table on Thursday about Police Department updates, including a new jail.
The jail has a new addition in which inmates have been occupying since May. Roberson highlighted the drug taskforce and said he believes a lot of the local thefts lead back to drugs. Roberson said the sex crime investigator has over 20 cases. Roberson said the investigator has “arrested 11 people this year” for not doing what they needed to do for probation.
Roberson said the COVID-19 case spike is a problem for them specifically in the jail because of the number of people present there. “We’re staffed well other than maybe a couple of jailers,” he said.
The full interview with Roberson is on Around The Table’s Facebook Page.
