An area man is accused of assaulting a woman after they got into an argument.
42-year-old Matthew Schaeffer of Omaha is in the Boone County Jail and Detention Center on a felony count of second-degree domestic battery.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Boone County Dispatch received a call in the early evening of January 7 from the victim at a residence on Goddard Lane in Omaha. She accused Schaeffer of assaulting her before he left the residence.
A Boone County deputy arrived at the residence nearly five minutes later and observed the injury. The victim reportedly had a two-inch abrasion below her left eye.
Schaeffer has been incarcerated since February 8 and is facing charges of interference with emergency communications, revocation of a suspended sentence, contempt of court and a probation violation.
