Boil Water Order Issued for Portion of Valley Springs Waterworks System

A boil water order has been issued for a portion of the Valley Springs Waterworks system serving customers in Marion and Boone counties.

The order affects customers located from the area north of Tennyson Loop to Harps Food Store.

According to officials, the precautionary boil order was issued Monday morning following a construction-related water line break that may have compromised water quality in the affected area.

Customers are advised that tap water may be unsafe for consumption until further notice. Water should be brought to a brisk boil for at least one minute before being used for drinking, cooking, food preparation, brushing teeth, or making beverages.

Officials also recommend discarding any ice made from tap water during the affected period and replacing it with ice made from properly treated water.

The boil water order will remain in effect until water quality testing confirms the system is safe for normal use. Customers will be notified when the order has been lifted.
