The Taney County Health Department provides information about National Nutrition Month during a recent edition of the "At Your Service" Podcast.
Tammy Drake of the Health Department says that the National Nutrition Week began in March of 1973 and expanded to the entire month of March in 1980 go provide awareness and information on nutrition options. Drake says that the theme of this year's event is "Celebrate a World of Flavors" which embraces global cultures and cuisines.
Drake says experimenting with different foods is a good way to find out more nutritional options in some foods that are not common in this country plus to remind folks of overall good eating habits and how to incorporate those into meal planning.
During the Podcast, Drake also provides an update on the Taney County WIC Program.
