An Arkansas State Police Task Force assist in several arrests of individuals on charges related to Child Sexual Abuse Material.
According to a release from the ASP, one of those arrests occurred in the Lakes Region. On June 24, ASP agents on the Internet Crimes Against Children task force teamed ASP Officers and Marion County Sheriff's Deputies executed a search warrant at the residence of 31-year-old John David Edwards of Yellville. Edwards was arrested on 30 counts of possession or use of Child Sexual Abuse Material and is currently in the Marion County Detention Center on a $50,000 Bond.
“These arrests underscore our commitment to protecting Arkansas’s children from online predators,” said Col. Mike Hagar, Director of the Arkansas State Police in the release. “We are grateful for the continued partnership with NCMEC, federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. Our message is clear: Those who exploit children will be aggressively pursued and brought to justice.”
Other arrests made in conjunction with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) occurred in Pulaski, Saline, and Sebastian Counties. All the arrests were made following cyber tips received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
