A woman with a history of legal troubles is now charged with mail thefts according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
The release from the department is below:
Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander reports the arrest of 39-year-old Kathleen Smith of Mountain Home, in connection with recent mail thefts in Marion County. A joint investigation by the Sheriff's Office, Mountain Home Police Department, and the Gassville Police Department resulted in the charges against SMITH.
In late April, the Sheriff's Deputies began responding to several complaints of mail stolen from county residences located primarily in the southern portion of the county. On May 7th, 2025, Officers from Gassville and Mountain Home contacted MCSO Investigators and advised a possible suspect had been developed during an unrelated theft investigation in their jurisdiction. Investigators coordinated their efforts with the other agencies and were able to interview Smith, recover several parcels of mail, and arrest her for the thefts.
Smith is charged with 98 counts of Theft of Property (Misdemeanor) and 17 counts of Breaking or Entering (Felony) in connection to the victims identified in Marion County.
Smith is currently incarcerated in the Baxter County Detention Center on unrelated charges.
