The effort to save PBS from leaving Arkansas has been successful.
Multiple media sources are reporting that the fundraising efforts by The Friends of Arkansas PBS met its goal of $2.1 Million so the Arkansas TV could pay the fee to continue PBS programming in the state.
Late last year, Arkansas TV voted to cut ties with PBS due to the high fee costs in conjunction with the closing of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The board paused its decision when the Friends of Arkansas PBS group was formed to try to raise the money needed to pay the fee.
The group says they are continuing fundraising efforts to ensure that PBS programming will remain available in the coming years.
