Both Arkansas and Missouri announce efforts to fill the gap left with the discontinuation of SNAP Benefits while the Trump Administration is facing a court order to use contingency funds to continue the program.
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said will distribute $500,000 among six regional food bank networks in the state to help in wake of the administration's announcement of the program ceasing distribution of funds due to the continuing Government Shutdown.
In addition, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe Missouri announces a $5 million distribution to food banks across the state to expedite food assistance.
This as two federal courts last week ordered the USDA to use the contingency funds set aside to continue the program. Last week, that agency announced that the program would pause as the Government Shutdown enters its 34th day.
