Three communities in the Lakes Region are included on a list of 40 municipalities that has gotten a deadline extension on reports owed to the state.
According to a report from the Arkansas Advocate posted by KTLO, the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee approved an extension to December 31 for audit reports from 2022 that have been due since July of last year. Many smaller communities have argued that with small staffs, it has been difficult to provide the required reports while providing their communities with services.
The extension also releases money that had been withheld as a penalty for not filing their reports.
According to the recap from the Arkansas Advocate, Flippin has completed their 2022 report though they have not filed reports for 2023 or 2024 while Lead Hill and Valley Springs have not filed reports for 2022 and beyond.
