Area to Benefit from State Water and Wastewater Funding

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has announced an additional $204 million in financial assistance for water and wastewater projects for 45 entities through the Department of Agriculture.

The projects serve more than 198,627 Arkansans in 28 counties.

According to the release from the governor's office, the funds are a combination of loans and grants to the communities and organizations. Many of the loans will include forgiveness of principal.

Three of the recipients are in the Lakes Region, including projects for the communities of Marshall and Pyatt that will get a loan from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to help improve the water systems in their communities.

Also receiving funds will be the area organization H2Ozarks with the money to help them continue their septic tank remediation program in the Buffalo River watershed.

Another award that could impact the region is to the Arkansas Rural Water Association, which is receiving a grant from the Clean Water Revolving Fund to be used to provide on-site technical assistance to systems and system operators across the entire state.
