The 2022 derailment of the train at Silver Dollar City has resulted in another lawsuit filing.
According to online court documents, a civil suit was filed in July by Timothy Taylor of Desoto, Mo., who was a passenger on the one of the cars that derailed on October 22. Taylor alleges that that the train and track were in an unsafe condition at the time of the incident.
The lawsuit also describes significant medical treatment that Taylor says followed the derailment. The filing alleges neck, shoulder and back injuries, along with surgery, therapy, injections and continued pain management.
The plaintiff is requesting a jury trial and damages exceeding $25,000, according to the petition described in the online filing, which also indicates the summons was filed in Stone County Circuit Court this past Monday.
At least three other lawsuits have been filed in the case including one, filed by Ronald and Tammy Yeaton of Wildwood, Mo. in May, is scheduled for a review in November.
