One of the annual events to celebrate Independence Day in Harrison will have some special events planned as part of America 250.
"Let Freedom Ring" will take place at the Harrison Court Park at 11:00 am on July 4. Tonya Sherburne & Laurie Cowling from the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution talked about plans for this year's edition during Wednesday's "Around the Table" Program on KHOZ. Sherburne said member Kathleen McMurry will portray Betsy Ross talking about the creation of the flag and George Washington's input into its design. Actors portraying George and Martha Washington will also speak during the ceremony.
A bell ringing will celebrate the 13 Original Colonies with music also provided by the Merry Mother of God Choir. Free watermelon will be available for attendees.
In addition to this event, the Sons of American Revolution group will have a presentation at 10:30 am dedicating a marker to Jordon Milam, the only Revolutionary War Patriot buried in Boone County.
The complete interview can be found the Around the Table Facebook Page.
