A six-year-old child is dead following an early morning house fire in Boone County.
The child was reportedly asleep in the residence north of Harrison and succumbed to the blaze.
According to Boone County Sheriff Roy Martin, the Bergman Fire Department responded just after 4:30 Monday morning to a structure fire located at 3582 Arkansas Highway 7 North, and the Harrison and Cottonwood fire departments provided mutual aid due to the residence being fully engulfed. The sheriff says two adults and another juvenile were able to escape.
The body of the deceased will be sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office in Little Rock to determine exact cause of death. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
