100 Degree Temperatures Possible over Next Few Days

National Weather Service Forecasters say the hottest temperatures of the year are possible over the next several days around the Lakes Region.

All of the border counties including Barry, Stone, Taney, and Ozark in Missouri along with Carroll, Boone, and Marion in Arkansas are under a Heat Advisory with temperatures forecast to be around 100 through Tuesday. Add the humidity which will increase the Heat Index to around 106 or higher through that period.

While there is a chance of some isolated showers during this period, most of the area will remain dry.

The NWS Heat Advisory Statement reminds people to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
