The City of Branson is joined by two other cities, two school districts, and two other districts in having contested spots to be decided during the April Municipal Election in Taney County.
The City of Branson's contested race is in Ward 3, as incumbent Ralph LeBlanc is being challenged by Ashley Harkness. Their will be one new face on the board as Alex Williams is running unopposed for the Ward 1 Seat held by Marshall Howden who did not seek reelection. Glenn Schulz is running unopposed for another term in Ward 2.
Merriam Woods has the most contested races as four offices are up for election. Current Mayor Robert Amos, who was appointed mayor after the resignation of Dave Casaletto last summer, will run to finish out the final year of that term against former alderman Barbara Durham. All three Wards have contested races with incumbent Joshua Farrington being challenged by Sara Keltner and Anthony WIlfong in Ward 1, Ward 2 incumbent Prescilla Garcia facing a challenge from Dennis Mount, and Ward 3 Incumbent Peggy Fischer being challenged by David Linn and Shawn Maggart. There also two unexpired terms on the ballot, one each for Ward 1 and Ward three but no names are on the ballot.
Rockaway Beach will see one contested race as Ward 2 Alderman Matt Dieckhaus is being challenged by Lidia Intravia.
Two school districts will have contested races with each having four people going for three available positions on their Boards of Education.
In Branson, current members Sonja Myer and Dustin Price are seeking another term in office with Andi Selby and Richard Marks also running for a position. Lane McConnell did not run for another term on the board.
In Forsyth, current board members Jayson Fisher, Nikki Henson, and Brenda Persinger are running for reelection with Jared Layton also on the ballot.
Two other districts will have contested board openings.
The Western Taney County Fire Protection District will have a contested spot with Stephanie Single, Lori Hammon, and Nick Sharp seeking the position while the Taney County Ambulance District Board will have incumbent board member Chris Larsen face a challenge from Josh Smith and Kevin Tweedy.
Early voting continues through Saturday and again next Monday at the Taney County Courthouse before Election Day on Tuesday.
